Robert Crumb Yellow Dog #7 "Jive" Sketchbook Page Original Art (Print Mint, 1968). Another faux magazine cover design from one of R. Crumb's many sketchbooks; this one features the popular (and insanely politically incorrect) character Angelfood McSpade. The heavy demand for Crumb art following his instant success with Zap Comix and the "Cheap Thrills" album cover art for Janis Joplin's band, Big Brother and the Holding Company, meant resorting to sketchbook drawings for publications like the original tabloid version of Yellow Dog. But what crazy sketchbook drawings they were! The art is in ink on paper, with an approximate image size of 7.25" x 10". The drawing is unsigned, but is featured in the hardcover museum book, Yeah, But Is It Art?, on page 214. The art is framed with Plexiglas, for an overall size of 14.75" x 17.25". The backside of the frame is not open, but you can make out an additional drawing on the reverse page. Crumb carried his sketchbooks around with him, so there is a bit of handling wear on the paper; Very Good condition
