Sheldon Moldoff and Joe Giella Batman #172 Splash Page 1 Original Art (DC, 1965). Nothing exclaims early "Silver Age DC" quite like a Batman title page by supreme penciler and acclaimed 1950's Bat-artist, "Shelly" Moldoff, who was Bob Kane's first assistant on the Batman title. This great scene is only a few issues after the debut of Batman's "New Look", with the yellow oval around his chest symbol, and has Batman and Robin fighting ancient suits of armor that have come to life in "Attack of the Invisible Knights." Ink over graphite on twice-up scale Bristol board with an image area of 13" x 19" (including paste-up header). There is mild overall toning, edge and corner wear, marginal spots of soiling, adhesive residue in the top masthead stat paste-ups, and corner creases, with marginal editorial marks. Moldoff has signed the lower right as Bob Kane.
