John Buscema is one of the primary reasons that Mighty Marvel was more than just Lee and Kirby. His style was elegant, straightforward, technically perfect, and filled with energy. The strength of Buscema's artistry through the years, from the Avengers, Conan the Barbarian, to the Silver Surfer and beyond has solidified his stature amongst the most revered sequential art illustrators of all time. The sense of sword & sorcery, fantasy, and adventure were all done in a way that were singular to Buscema's imagination.
