Frank Frazetta

Man, the Endangered Species

Page: preliminary
Media Type: Mixed Media
Art Type: Specialty Piece
Artists: Frank Frazetta all
Other Images: With Frame

Inspired from the pages of L. Ron Hubbard's New York Times bestseller Battlefield Earth, this striking composition uses Frazetta's standard imagery of heroism which he has been known for since his comic-book period of the 1950s. The scene depicts man's struggle against an alien invader that has all but wiped out mankind. The painting was inspired by the opening line of the novel, "'Man,' said Terl, 'is an endangered species.'" The painting saw print once again in 2016, as the cover of a new edition of Battlefield Earth. Watercolor on paper with an image area of 3.5" x 4.5", framed to an overall size of 22.25" x 21.5". Signed and in Excellent condition.
