Seven Soldiers of Victory Golden Age Try Out Illustration Original Art (c. 1944). Joe Kubert's deft inking on Mort Meskin's Vigilante feature brought the younger artist to the attention of All-American editor Shelly Mayer. This superb early effort shows the profound influence of Meskin on the young Kubert, and you'd have to search far and wide to find another vintage group portrait spotlighting the Seven Soldiers of Victory: Star-Spangled Kid, Stripesy, Wing, Green Arrow, Vigilante, Speedy, Shining Knight, and the Crimson Avenger. This fantastic piece was created in ink on paper with an image area of 16" x 10". There are some touches of whiteout which have aged over the years, and a horizontal crease running across the lower third of the image area. Sold
