Brian Bolland Winter's Edge #1 Vertigo Character Wrap-Around Cover Original Art (DC, 1998). This is (as far as we know) the only painted wraparound cover that Brian Bolland ever produced, and to make it even better, the scene is paradoxically "circular," so that the extreme right side of the image ties into the extreme left side. This masterwork features 13 characters from various Vertigo titles, including House of Secrets, Neil Gaiman's Sandman, The Minx, Sandman Mystery Theatre, The Dreamer, Hellblazer, Nevada, Books of Magic, Grant Morrison's The Invisibles, and Preacher. Here is a real "grail piece." The Vertigo imprint has proved very influential indeed -- the first four-color mature comics line since the hallowed days of EC. Bolland brings us the classic rendition of the Vertigo imprint's characters drawn and hand colored in his famously meticulous style, resulting in a showpiece of magic realism. This is truly a unique and extraordinarily beautiful piece of art. Also note, Bolland no longer produces originals on paper, he creates all of his artwork digitally, so it is not likely that there will be more painted pieces available. This cover has a combined 20" x 15" image area, and the art is in Excellent condition.
