The Defenders demonic looking member gets his own mini-series and this fantastic painted cover on the first issue by the Master of the Macabre, Mr. Bernie Wrightson! This is both a masterful, hugely impressive painting from a great period in Wrightson's career, as well as an image squarely in the nostalgic sweet spot for many '80s fans - and we've never seen it on the market before. This is one of just five covers Wrightson did for Marvel in the entire decade of the 1980s. Created in opaque watercolor on 17" x 25" illustration board. Signed in the lower right. There are pinholes in the margins from a previous framing job. The board has a crease in the lower section that is barely noticeable from the front side. In Very Good condition.
