Rip Kirby Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-18-49 (King Features Syndicate, 1949). Alex Raymond's artistic mastery is legendary. From the textures created by his use of line, to his shadow work, which builds a unparalleled dramatic effect, as seen here in this episode from the Rip Kirby story-arc "Second Chances", which ran from 5-23 to 9-3-1949. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 18.5" x 5.5". Toning, damaged second syndication strip in Panel 2, rough top edge, pinholes, smudging, and handling wear.
